Regional Telecom Training Centre, (RTTC) Mysore, is an institution of Dept. of Telecommunication, Govt. of India, located in its own building built in sprawling twenty acres land in T.K.Layout, Mysore-570 023. It is engaged in training activities for both who join the dept. afresh and in-service.
Induction Courses :
Induction Courses are for the new entrants who join DOT as Jr. Telecom Officers. The incumbents will be trained in either switching or transmission technologies in two phases of four months each. At the end of the training they will be appointed as J.T.Os.
In service Courses :
Inservice Courses are for the persons who are already working in the dept. to keep them abreast of ever changing telecom technology. The officers/officials will be trained in the latest switching, and transmission technologies in the courses ranging team one week to five weeks. Apart from telecom subjects; courses are also conducted in Management and Computer subjects.
The training centre is well equipped with working models, digital exchanges in CDOT technology, and on transmission side labs on PCM, digital mux, optical fibre system are available to the trainees.
4 The training centre is headed by DIRECTOR, a JHG level officer, supported by four Divisional Engineers, and thirty Sub-Divisional Engineers, and ten Junior Telecom Officers as faculty members.
4 Three Computer labs with 12 PCs each are available for computer courses.
4 A well equipped technical library containing about 4000 books on switching, transmission, management, electronics, computers etc. is located in the ground floor of administrative block. Periodicals on Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science are available in the library.
4 In addition to the technical library, library for general reading including novels, magazines is under Telecom Recreation Club's management.
Recreation facility with both indoor and outdoor games, TVs, reading rooms at hostel, will benefit the trainees and refresh them after a busy day.
Another institution called Circle Telecom Training Centre is also co-located in the RTTC complex and shares the infrastructure of RTTC, in training the staff.
RTTC being member of the 'MYLIBNET' has opened its members to the wider library network and also to the 'Internet'.
